The hopes of many Nigerians who had anticipated celebration ahead of the Grammys were quenched as Burna Boy lost the award to Angelique Kidjo.
Nigerian’s Burna Boy couldn’t bring home the ‘World Best Music Album’ award as anticipated.

However, Nigerians seem to have comforted themselves after another African, Angelique Kidjo from Benin won the award.
Here is the reaction of some Nigerian after last night Grammys;
You never expected it to be easy for Burna Boy, did you? Angelique Kidjo was not just a contender but a legend. She’s also got #GRAMMYs to her name. Femi Kuti was nominated four times during his days but won none. Let’s just hope Burna gets more nominations and a win someday.

Yesterday everyone was saying Burna is going to win. Today you guys are now saying it was obvious he wasn’t going to win. I don’t care about Burna or Grammy but the way you guys think on this app is very disgusting and hypocritical.

Well, Burna boy not winning the Grammy awards doesn’t change anything. Please.
.
Having burna in the same category with Angelique Kidjo. Who did you think would have won? Lol.
.
Congratulations to Angelique kidjo— AUNTY ADA (@AuntyAdaa) January 27, 2020
You’re wrong about one thing though. Having Burna in the same category with Angelique Kidjo doesn’t mean Burna can’t win the award. It’s Angelique Kidjo’s time.. next time it ‘ll be Burna’s. 💪💪@burnaboy we do it again next yr

So I decided to listen to few tracks from Angelique Kidjo’s Album & I must say Burna Boy is really an African Giant to be nominated alongside that woman.
Burna still gat more than enough time to put in more effort inorder to do better. He’s capable, he’s a winner too. #GRAMMYs— Tife🌚 (@Tife_fabunmi) January 27, 2020
At least someone was wise enough to do the Needful before joining the “Burna was Denied” Bandwagon

Angélique Kidjo is an icon. She has been doing this music thing years before I was born and trust me, I’m older than 60% of y’all on this app. Don’t ever disrespect her because you think Burna should’ve won. Angélique winning takes nothing away from Burna, he’s phenomenal.

Burna Wins the Grammy or Not! He should be Respected! He’s the first Afrobeat hip hop artist from Nigeria that was nominated because of his work(African Giant), not because of a feature/help from a Foreign artist!#GRAMMYs

Burna Boy made it to a global stage even though he didn’t win but he won Africa.
Congratulations to Angelique Kidjo who won and dedicated the Award to Burna!

Although he didn’t win the #GRAMMYAwards2020, I am very proud of the recognition that @burnaboy has received on the world stage today. Angelique Kidjo dedicating her win to him is the definition of grace and class. Burna is just 28. He will come again. Una know say him special.
