Some Ghanaian celebrities are calling for the name of the Kotoka International Airport to be changed.
According to them, Kwame Nkrumah as the one who led Ghana to Independence deserves to have his name on the Airport.
Instead the airport is named after Colonel Kotoka, who led the coup that overthrew Nkrumah from power.
Commenting on the issue, A Plus said the fact the airport is named after Kotoka shows Ghanaians are ungrateful to Nkrumah.
“Ghana’s main problem since independence is this guy, general EK Kotoka, the guy who led the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah… I wonder why our airport is still named after him… It shows that we don’t know what we lost or appreciate what Nkrumah did for us. Ungrateful people.”
Sonnie Badu commented and said Ghana will know no peace until the name is changed.
“And he (Kotoka) is sitting at the gateway to Ghana … well, you just solved the problem.. until the name is changed Ghana will never have their peace… The one who got us independence should have his name at the airport,”
