As part of the deal to step back from their royal duties, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, would have to repay the UK treasury $3m.
The money is the amount the royal family spent to refurbish the couple’s home Frogmore Cottage in Berkshire.
The money was part of the Royal Family’s funds which are provided by the British government. Since Harry and Meghan have decided they no longer want to be part of the working members of the Royal Family, they have decided to pay it back.
The couple would also lose their royal titles His/Her ‘royal highness’, although they still remain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The news was contained in a statement from the Queen announcing that the couple have been given the green light to step back from their royal duties as they requested.
