The 28th edition of the CAF Awards was held yesterday at Hurghada, Egypt to celebrate African footballers and officials who distinguished themselves in 2019.

Sadio Mane was crowned the African Player of the Year with 477 votes, beating his Liverpool teammate Mahamed Salah and Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
Receiving the price from CAF President Ahmad Ahmad, the Senegalese forward thanked his national team and his club (Liverpool) for their support.

In the Women’s football, Asisat Oshoala was named African Women’s Player of the Year for the fourth time, reaching the record of her compatriot Perpetua Nkwocha.
