The gods have chosen a 23-year-old Medical Doctor, Taiwo Oyebola Agbona as the king of Aaye Kingdom, Ondo State.
The young lady ascended the throne upon the consultation of the oracle by elders of the kingdom after her father, J. B Agbona passed away in 2017.
Taiwo Agbona who is the first child of her father was chosen as the one who befits the throne.
Speaking to BBC Focus on Africa, she said;
“After the demise of my father, the chiefs consulted the oracle and they were told that I am the one worthy to be on the throne. So, they came to consult me and ask for my consent.
“I told them to give me three weeks to think about it. When they came back, I told them I am ready to succeed my father. Within those three weeks, I was thinking about a lot of things.
“When my father was alive, I used to watch him interfere in so many things. Then people bring different cases on conflicts and other things to me and I will wondering how to address them. But I thank God now, I am used to it. I have been doing that for a year now and some months.
“As a regent, the person still has the responsibility of the original person on the throne, the only difference is that it is only for a while, it is not permanent. There’s no time because I will still be on the throne until they find another king worthy and if they didn’t find another person worthy to occupy that position, you will remain there. That is why there is need to find someone else.”
According to her, the throne doesn’t permit her to get pregnant or get married until she leaves.
“When you leave the throne you can do whatever you can but for now, I cannot get married while on the throne and I cannot get pregnant, so whosoever that wants to marry me will have to wait till I leave the throne.
“Before, I am a normal person, but it has shaped me into a better person. It has also taught me how to be hardworking because you really need to be hardworking and think fast because you can be called upon anytime by your people”
