One of the continent’s most recognizable faces, this year marks her 21st year working in the country’s burgeoning film industry Nollywood. Ms. Dominic is acclaimed for her ability to thoroughly embody characters and continues to receive critical acclaim for her portrayal of iconic roles. This decade alone she received numerous accolades becoming the only actress to have won the AMVCA best actress award in both the drama and comedy categories for Mildred Okwo’s The Meeting and Izu Ojukwu’s 76. She started off the decade by acting in and co-producing the multiple award-winning film “The Meeting”. Next she featured in Kenyan film Shattered for which she won 2 more prestigious acting awards from Africa Movie Academy Awards @amaawards_ and East Africa’s Kalasha Awards @kalashakenya becoming the first West African Actress to receive that award. Rita was also the first ever recipient of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice New Era Award in 2014. Rita was a perennial Acting nominee in several awards too numerous to name this past 9 years and has diligently continued to hone and redefine her acting skills. She still considers acting her foremost priority and strives to always give it her all. Coming in 2020, Rita will feature in Kola Munnis’ @incaseofincasity and Mildred Okwo’s @anjolamovie The youngest of four children, she was born into the Royal Waturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise in Imo State, Rita started acting in local television dramas at the age of 5. She graduated from the University of Port Harcourt with a BA in Theatre Arts and joined the Nigerian film industry in 1998.
