Three Ghanaian Medical Students In the U.S Receive American Academy of Optometry Foundation Award for their Excellence

Three Ghanaian students studying optometry (eyecare) in the United States have received a top award reserved for the highest upcoming talents in the field.

Heiz Otchere, Afua Oteng Asare and Eugene Appenteng Osae have all been awarded with William C. Ezell Fellowships.

William C. Ezell Fellowships are offered to talented graduate students to support them in their pursuit of full-time careers in optometric research and education in a school or college of optometry.

It has been offered to selected students by the American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF) since 1949.

The fellowship is for one year and each recipient receives $8,000, plus a $750 travel grant to attend the annual meetings of the American Academy of Optometry and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).

The three Ghanaians received their awards at the joint conference of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and Third World Congress of Optometry for (WCO) held in Orlando Florida.
