Whilst a rape case takes over the country and parents are worried about their kids, a Nigerian clergyman is telling parents rape is the fault of their kids.
According to Reverend Israel Akanji, Chairman of the North Central Zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), children of today are dressing like sluts which attract rapists.
Rape has become a huge issue in Nigeria after the recent case involving Busola Dakolo and pastor Fatoyinbo.
But whilst parents are worried, the only thing Akanji can say is that their kids’ dressing is encouraging rape.
“I want to appeal to parents that while we are waiting for a law that will deal with rapists (I know that laws exist right now), parents must warn their children. Some children dress in such a way that they appear as if they are inviting rapists to their lives. They are almost naked, they expose body parts that some people cannot control themselves.
“Let us return to the culture of decent dressing, it may not stop[rape] but it will minimize it.” he said.
