“I recently got married! I’m replacing my birth surname/suffix (Sueing III) with Ekundayo (the wife’s name) so that we can pass it on to our future children,” he tweeted.
He justified his decision by revealing his wife’s name has a nice Yoruba meaning.
“Ekundayo” means ‘to turn tears to joy’ in Yoruba,” he added.
Guys taking their wives’ name happens occasionally in the West, but in Africa it’s virtually unheard of.
Is that something any African guy can do? Give us your thoughts on it.
