In the world of television, a show which receives an episode order is practically assured of airing. This is important because whilst HBO has ordered numerous prequels of Thrones none of them has reached this stage where we know it’s assured – Winter is really coming.
The new show would be called ‘House of the Dragon’ and was co-created by George R.R Martin (GRRM) and Ryan Condal. Martin is the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series Game of Thrones was based on. This show would be based on ‘Fire and Blood’, another GRRM novel.
Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, who directed massive Thrones episodes including ‘Battle of the Bastards’ and ‘Hardhome’, would serve as showrunners.

‘House of the Dragon’ would be based on the history of House Targaryen, the ancestors of Daenerys Stormborn, the Mother of Dragons.
EW predicts the show would start airing in 2021. HBO has about four other prequel ideas currently in development.
The show itself is over but the world of Westeros is not going anywhere anytime soon.
