Arguably the greatest Ghanaian rapper of all time, Obrafour, is still celebrating the 20 years anniversary of arguably the greatest Ghanaian album of all time, ‘Pae Mu Ka’.
Today, Obrafour is one of the most successful Ghanaian music acts of all time but back then before he wrote ‘Pae Mu Ka’ and changed his life, things were in a very tough spot.
This is the true story behind ‘Pae Mu Ka’ which many people aren’t aware of – nothing is easy to get in this life.
Obrafour revealed in a chat with Adom Fm that he was in such a bad place at the time that anything could have happened.
He had just lost his mum and felt lost, he was broke and didn’t have any hope in the future.
“I was in a stage of my life where I was experiencing a lot of difficulties and I had lost all hope. I decided to leave home because I lost my mother who meant everything to me,” Obrafour revealed on Adom Fm.
“It was during this time I met a friend of mine called Quincy, who inspired everything I am today. Quincy was so good at rapping that he received lots of gifts wherever he performed.
“I went to him one day so he could teach me how to rap, which he agreed to do but at a cost. There was no way I could afford the money because I had moved out of home after my mother’s death and making a living was very difficult.”

Obrafour added: “It was after that encounter that I sat down to personally write my own song. I kept pushing until a friend of mine took me to Hammer of the Last Two Records and a good friend of mine funded the recording of the album.”
The rest, as they say, is history.
