Cannabis or Indian Hemp Is a Cash Crop That needs to be Legalized And Taxed- Kwaw Kese

Published by

The debate on the legalization of Cannabis is slowly gaining traction.

Kwaw Kese, a Ghanaian Rapper said Indian hemp is a Cash crop that can generate millions of Cedis to the government when it is legalized and taxed.

The rapper said this on Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy Fm with Mamavi Owusu.

”Abodam” as he is popularly called expressed his passionate disapproval on the burning of Cannabis plants that can be sold to save the country Ghana from running to IMF for financial assistance.

”The man insane” continued to explain why the law against Indian Hemp belonged to the colonial era.

He said those laws were made to benefit people that belonged to that generation and is no longer relevant in our present age and time.

Furthermore he talked about the health benefits of Cannabis and how it is widely being used for medical purposes.

Kwaw Kese was arrested on November 22, 2014 in Kumasi for smoking in public.

He was subsequently sentenced to a day’s imprisonment and a fine of GHc1,200.

In his own defense, he said he had been smoking for over twenty years and could not fathom why he should be arrested for engaging in an act which gives him comfort.

We however cannot ascertain if he still does what he said he loved doing.

Is there any truth in his assertion and can it be taxed to help the country?
