Ursula Owusu Hints On Introducing Taxes On Momo Transactions

The Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu has disclosed that following the adjustment of the communications service tax (CST), the Ministry is contemplating on introducing taxes on every Mobile Money transaction.

Speaking in an interview with Osei Bonsu, on Asempa FM’s “Ekosiisen” talk show, she stated that mobile money taxation is something they’ve been thinking about for some time now and that the ministry will reveal their final decision on the matter soon.

“Mobile Money taxation is on our radar and we are monitoring and very soon you’ll hear of us in no time but as it stands it’s not been taxed,” she said.

She added that they have begun discussing this development with telecommunication companies operating in the country to ensure a smooth roll out of the new policy.
