Scotland Makes ‘Beating’ Your Own Child A Crime – First Country In the U.K to Do So

Scotland has outlawed physical punishment of parents on their kids, the first country in the U.K to do so.

In a new law passed through Parliament, parents can be prosecuted for any physical punishment they administer to their kids.

The outlawed punishments, according to the BBC, include “smacking, slapping and smacking with a hand or an implement, as well as kicking, shaking or throwing children, scratching, pinching, biting, pulling hair or boxing ears, forcing children to stay in uncomfortable positions, burning, scalding or forced ingestion.”

The ban joins the existing ban on physical punishment in schools, making Scotland the first U.K country to completely outlaw physical assault on children.
