Once again accusations of arrogance have come back to bite Sarkodie in the a$$ after he apparently refused to appear in Obrafour’s ‘Pae Mu Ka’ documentary.
According to a Joy News report, Sarkodie failed to appear in the documentary about the man who Sark himself claims has had a huge impact on his career.
Obrafour has many activities lined up to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of his seminal album ‘Pae Mu Ka’, the album which single-handedly solidified rap as the top genre of Ghanaian music for the following decade.
One of the events marking the anniversary is the production of a documentary which traces Obrafour’s career path in the industry.
Many industry giants who have crossed paths with Obrafour in one way or another appeared in the documentary including CY Lover, Hammer, Tic Tac (now TiC), Kwaw Kese, KOD, Yvonne Nelson, M.anifest and many others.
Sarkodie, who Obrafour has featured on numerous singles and who he has on many occasions cited as a huge influence on his career, was nowhere to be found.
Joy News reveals Sarkodie failed to appear in the documentary even though there were numerous attempts to get him to appear for a shoot.
Sarkodie reportedly kept giving one excuse after another as to why he could not appear in the documentary. On one occasion, his management even gave the flimsy excuse that he was not appropriately dressed for the shoot so he could not make it.
The excuses kept coming until eventually the shoot was completed without Sarkodie in the documentary.
Contrast Sarkodie’s reluctance with M.anifest, who reportedly was not in town during the shoot, but flew back and eagerly made an appearance.
There is no apparent reason as to why Sark decided to snub his ‘mentor’ in that manner apart from maybe feeling too ‘big’ for the documentary.
When contacted, his manager Angel Town said it’s not true that Sarkodie refused to appear in the documentary but that “It’s just a matter of [mis]communication,”
“If right now self if these people want to shoot Sark a, he go shoot,” Angel Town added, although shooting for the documentary ended as far back as August 23rd.
