The Pillars of Modern Ghana Awards are organized by The New Ghanaian Magazine, one of the most widely circulated corporate magazines in the country which has been in circulation for the past 13 years.
The magazine organizes the annual Pillar of Modern Ghana Awards to honour individuals or establishments who have contributed immensely to the economic development of Ghana, indeed West Africa, in their various fields of endeavor.
The New Ghanaian Magazine revealed Pure City International School is being honoured “by virtue of the school’s invaluable contributions to Education in Ghana, through the provision of qualitative and unrivalled education to Ghanaians.”
The 2019 edition of the Pillars of Modern Ghana Awards were held at The Tulip Hotel, Shiashie, Accra on Wednesday, 28th of August, 2019, under the distinguished chairmanship of the Chairman, Governing Council, Wisconsin International University College Ghana, Noble Justice Isaac Duose.
The Keynote Speaker was the Executive Director of the National Population Council, Noble Dr. Leticia Adelaide Appiah, with the Guest of Honor being the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Noble Hon. Mrs. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
Pure City international school was started as Sena Royal Academy by founder/CEO Precious Senafiawo in September 2012. It began its operation in the said period with a total pupil population of eight (8), two (2) teaching staff and two (2) non-teaching staff members. The school then had a portable structure with three classrooms and an office.
From those humble beginnings, it has now expanded to its current state, boasting over 350 pupils, an ultra-modern computer laboratory fully equipped with computers and internet connectivity, a well-resourced science laboratory wherein pupils undertake their scientific practicals and a well-stocked library with e-learning materials.
Since 2016, the school has been presenting pupils for the annual Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) to outstanding success.
The school completed a boarding facility in 2017 to house pupils in a much more educationally friendly environment. Students who still come from home can make use of the school shuttle service to great relief of their parents.
No great school is complete without sporting success and Pure City is no exception. Great attention is given to various sporting disciplines like basketball, soccer, volleyball, table tennis and athletics. Pupils from the school perform marvellously in various competitions organized in its catchment area. A music clinic also provides pupils who have the passion to go into music the chance to explore their passion.
Pure City has it all and on the back of that, it’s no surprise it received this outstanding Award.
The school’s impressive achievement comes hot on the heels of the recent award win by CEO Precious Senafiawo, who was honoured as one of the most reputable individuals in West Africa at the 2019 Nobels annual awards night.
Mr Senafiawo has also scored a prestigious nomination for the 2019 ’40 under 40′ awards in the field of education.
