The U.S government has raised visa fees for Nigerians applying for a visa into the country.
According to the BBC, Nigerians hoping for a U.S visa now have to pay anything between $80 and $110.
The new fees are in retaliation for Nigeria’s high visa fees for U.S citizens applying for Nigerian visas.
The U.S had complained that the $180 price for Nigerian visas was too much, but the Nigerian government refused to reduce it despite consultations between the two governments.
The U.S has thus decided to raise its fees as a retalitory action.
The new fee takes effect from Thursday 29 August.
