Junior Agogo, the former Ghanaian international striker, died earlier today at the age of 40 after battling stroke for several years.
Agogo was a mainstay for the Stars between 2006 and 2009, scoring 12 goals in 27 caps – an extremely impressive record.
He brought joy to Ghanaians numerous times, but none more exciting than in the 2008 African Cup of Nations quarter-final against Ghana’s bitterest rivals Nigeria.

As hosts, Ghana was looking to win the tournament and Naija as usual wanted to ‘spoil our party’.
Agogo, however, had other plans and scored a late goal to send the whole country into ecstasy as we beat Nigeria 2-1.
He became a hero in that tournament and after it ended, every woman in Ghana wanted her daughter to marry Agogo.
On this sad day, we remember that incredible moment in Agogo’s life.
