In the nation of Ghana, in 2019, an entire police department decided it’s a great idea to hold a ceremony to commission the construction of a new elevator.
And they got no less a person than the Inspector General of Police, who presumably had nothing better to do, to carry out the commissioning.
The new elevator is the first for the CID building, which has been in use since the 1990s.
Politicians in Ghana have become known for commissioning every trivial construction they undertake, as if the act of commissioning entitles them to some reward for carrying out the most basic of tasks.
Whether they are commissioning a toilet or an elevator, there’s nothing under the sun that ‘big men’ in Ghana would not do to make themselves feel better.
