The religious talk a lot about hell, especially those of us down here in Africa who are just waiting for others to die so they go and suffer, but we conveniently forget that the lives we’re living on this continent can hardly be better than hell.
In a country where people die because they can’t get common hospital beds, most live in poverty and some can’t get three square meals a day whilst politicians lavish in excess – how better is that than hell?
Controversial Nigerian singer Charly Boy has expressed a similar sentiment, complaining on social media about his own country.
According to him, if he dies and goes to hell, it would take him a while to realize he’s no longer in Nigeria because Nigeria is already a hell on its own.
He wrote: “If I died and went straight to Hell, It may take me more than a week to realise that I am no longer at Work or living in Nigeria. Yeye rulers. God go punish una soon.”
True story. I’ll just add if you take out Nigeria in that statement and insert Ghana, it would still remain 100% accurate.
What a continent we live on!
