Nana Appiah Mensah’s fight to meet his bail conditions got a little easier today after he was granted a variance of his bail terms following an application by his lawyer.
Trial judge Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye failed to reduce the bail amount but agreed to drop the condition that three of his five sureties be justified.
The embattled Menzgold Ghana CEO was granted bail in the sum of Ghc 1bn during his last court date on July 26th. However, he has been unable to make bail so far due to the astronomical amount considering his assets have been frozen.
His lawyer applied for a variance of the bail terms to more reasonable levels, but the bail amount remained the same, the judge only budging on the sureties.
Nana Appiah Mensah still has to make Ghc 1bn bail, but none of the sureties have to be justified.
The Zylofon Media CEO is standing trial for allegedly defrauding some Ghanaians out of Ghc 1.6bn.
