It’s rare to see the sun out these days, as the rainy season in Ghana has hit full swing in the historically wet months of June and July.
The rains fall relentlessly these days and when it’s not, the clouds obscure the sun most of the time. It’s not the ideal time for outdoor activities.
But in a month’s time, the bright sun of August would come out in all its glory as our version of summer hits, and families looking for great outdoor activities to pass the time can scarce do better than the upcoming PAMA Festival.

PAMA, short for Poetry, Animation, Music and Arts, is a festival encompassing these four categories of the Creative Arts Industry. It is held annually and brings together practitioners in those four fields to delight the general public with their awe-inspiring, God-given talents.
PAMA is a fun-filled two-day carnival set up to celebrate the resplendence of the Poetry, Animation, Music & Fine Art industry. The PAMA Festival encompasses extremely engaging exhibition sessions, creative arts workshops, animation showing, as well as live poetry and music performances; and would attract over 3,000 creative art lovers nationwide and abroad.
PAMA is powered by BEKOFI, an event and audiovisual production company founded by young Ghanaian entrepreneur Emmanuel Bonney, who is driven by a deep passion to explore creativity in a form which would capture imaginations.

Art lovers are scattered all over the country but the avenues for them to express that love remains limited. PAMA is setting itself up as a force to be reckoned with in bringing together the best in that world.
For this year’s festival, US-based Ghanaian Jazz Saxophonist Steve Bedi has already been booked to make an appearance. Bedi, a veteran musician and one of the best ever saxophonists this continent has ever produced, has a resume to envy and has made himself available to appear at the festival.
Aside Bedi, the festival would also host the producers of the local anime movie, ‘Anansi Must Die’, Parables Animation Studios. The Ghanaian animation powerhouse- renowned for their expertise in shooting classic Ghanaian folklore and history into life using engrossing and colorful cartoon characters, would be present to excite participants with their dazzling collection of animated works.
