No one has said marriage is not beautiful and only but a few people would not love to walk down the aisle someday with the man of their dreams waiting to spend eternity with them. But when this marriage is used as a unit to measure womanhood, success amongst others, the whole thing becomes distasteful.
Society expects one to marry at a certain age and shoves unnecessary pressures down people’s throat as if it was that easy for one to find themselves a lifetime partner. When it comes to the female celebs, they have not been spared at all. From Delay to Yvonne Nelson to Berla Mundu down to Lydia Forson down to Deborah Vanessa, they have all tasted the ‘get married pressure’ one way or the other.
It is now the turn of actress Gloria Sarfo. A fan wanted to know when she is getting married and that did not sit down well with her. Some of her followers came to her defense, sounding the very bell we have all been resonating all the while. Amongst those support comments is this one from actress Lydia Forson.
According to Lydia, people ask such questions only because they want others to be as unhappy as they themselves are and should be ignored.
Lydia wrote; “At this rate, I think a lot of these people write this to project their own unhappiness into us. They’re unhappy so they want you to be unhappy too and they feel asking you to marry is the only way.”
