About a month ago, we reported that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Menzgold Ghana, Nana Appiah Mensah, had won his court case in Dubai and was now a free man.
NAM 1, as he’s popularly known, was on trial after a Dubai firm known as Horizon Royal Diamond, who he was in business with, defrauded him of a gargantuan amount of money and later turned around to report him to the authorities for his arrest.

Yet despite this exonerating victory, Nana Appiah Mensah remains in custody till this day. He is not a free man and is in the custody of Interpol.
In a statement released by his Ghanaian lawyers, Kwame Akuffo & Co. Unlimited and addressed to top government officials in the country including the Attorney General, the head of EOCO, the Director-General of the Police CID and the Head of Interpol in Ghana, it is revealed that Nana Appiah Mensah is still being held by Interpol because of the Ghanaian government even though he won his Dubai court case and has been vindicated.
According to the statement, Nana Appiah Mensah won his court case against the Dubai business firm which owes him $39m, an amount he could retrieve if released by Interpol.
He was also cleared of all charges brought against him by the firm and thus was unequivocally a ‘free man’.
However, Interpol continues to hold him in custody due to a ‘Red Notice’ issued by the government of Ghana.
The lawyers say they believe his arrest and continued detention is a plan hatched by the firm Horizon Royal and elements in the Ghanaian government to help the company to escape paying him what is owed.
Kwame Akuffo & Co claim that Nana Appiah Mensah first went into business with the Dubai based firm on the advice of EOCO and thus there could be a conspiracy between these two elements to stop him from gaining his freedom.
In pursuant of that, despite his court victory, he has been taken into custody by Interpol and has been held in contravention of his fundamental human rights.
The statement added that if government truly has the interests of the Menzgold customers at heart, then NAM 1 must be left free to pursue the fraudulent Dubai based company to retrieve his $39m and return to pay everyone what they’re owed.
