Check out the Hero’s Welcome Reigning WWE Champion Kofi Kingston Received On Arrival In Ghana — PHOTOS + VIDEOS

Earlier today, Thursday, May 30th 2019, current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston made his long-awaited and much-hyped return to his motherland.

Kofi Kingston received a hero’s welcome at the airport with some family members and officials of the ‘Year of Return’ committee on hand.

Born Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah, the 37-year-old WWE Champion is back in Ghana for the first time since he left as a child. He became a professional wrestler on the WWE brand and became world champion earlier this year at Wrestlemania.

He is slated to meet with the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during his stay. He would also pay a visit to his hometowns in Ejisu and Atwima Techiman.

A WWE film crew are with him to film every aspect of his journey.

Kofi arrived earlier today for his visit and received a hero’s welcome. He was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by Officials of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, members of the Year of Return Steering Committee, family and friends including his Mother and younger brother.

Kofi is the first Ghanaian and first African born wrestler to hold a world title in the WWE.
