We have had to deal with lots of people claiming to be what they are not or even close to becoming that. Shatta Wale is hailing himself the dancehall king, Afia Schwar says she is the Queen of comedy, Gasmilla is claiming originator of Azonto, Sark is king of rap— even the ever humble Okyeame Kwame says he is the Rap Dacta.
The list is endless actually so we cannot fault the legendary Amakye Dede for bestowing upon Kuami Eugene the king of highlife title. The Akwadaawesoa hitmaker said in an interview that he lost faith in highlife and thought the genre would die out once they had passed one. Fortunately, he saw a light in Kuami and has since named him the king of highlife.
People are not particularly happy about that— some feel Bisa K-Dei is more deserving of the accolade than the Lynxx Entertainment signee. Kuami Eugene is good and all that but has he outdone himself and left a mark on the genre indelible enough for the title? One social media user has asked who made Amakye Dede the king of highlife music in the first place to be dishing titles on others.
