Communications Head for Charterhouse, organizers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, George Quaye has responded to claims that since the awards won by both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has been revoked, then their fans should get the money they spent on voting for those artists back.
As you’ll recall, Stonebwoy spent a crazy amount of money to buy credit for fans to vote ahead of the awards, and Shatta Wale did something similar by constantly called on his fans to vote for him. Since those two are two of the biggest artists in the country, it stands to reason their fans spent tens of thousands of cedis voting for them.
Now that has all seemingly come to nothing since Charterhouse has stripped them both of the awards won, so some are calling for the money to be refunded.

But in a swift response, George Quaye has made it clear nobody is getting their money back.
He told Akwasi Aboagye: “Let’s not forget the winners were not solely determined by the votes by the fans. What about the board and academy who left their various assignments to vote on who wins. What about the artists who didn’t win.Did their fans come out asking for their monies?.
Quaye said irrespective of the clamour, no one would receive the monies spent back.
