VGMA 2019: We Refused To Announce ‘Song Of The Year’ And ‘Artiste Of The Year’ Awards Because They Belong To Stonebwoy And Shatta Wale – Kwame Sefa-Kayi Reveals

Celebrated Broadcast Journalist, Kwame Sefa-Kayi who was the Master of Ceremony MC at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has revealed why Charterhouse, organisers of the awards show refused to announce the winners for the categories ‘Song of the Year’ and Artiste of the Year’ Awards on the night.

According to Kwame Sefa-Kayi, Charterhouse after Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale’s bizarre incident which nearly marred the 20th anniversary of the Ghana Music Awards took a firm decision not to announce the winners.

Kwame Sefa-Kayi revealed that the two awards ‘Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ belong to Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy but to calm the situation in the auditorium, they had to put a hold on its announcement to avoid further confusion.

Charterhouse has still not announced the winners for the two categories after the show even though they promised to do so in a press conference addressing the bizarre situation on the night.

For your information, the late Ebony Reigns still reigns as the ‘Artiste of the Year’ after winning it in 2018. The winner, Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale takes over ─ that’s if Charterhouse announces as promised.
