The veteran Ghanaian hiplife group Praye are engaged in a war of words with organizers of the annual VGMAs, Charterhouse.
Praye’s anger stems from being unable to land even one nomination for this year’s awards, which led to the group slamming Charterhouse which in turn elicited a response from their communications manager, George Quaye.
George Quaye said Praye is simply attacking Charterhouse for publicity to enable them remain in the spotlight.
However, in a reply on Starrfm during an interview Wednesday, Praye said its an insult for a group of their magnitude to be described as attention seekers.
Cartel Big J bemoaned the fact that they saved the VGMAs with their massive reunion last year and yet this sort of gross disrespect is the reward they get for it this year.
“George Quaye’s comment was a big disrespect to us. Last year we were one of the people who saved your show. I find that very disrespectful because we are not kids in this game. He was wrong to talk about us like we were just seeking some attention, because we are not.” Cartel Big J told KOD on the Starr Drive.
“We have paid our dues in this game and we deserve respect from him. We have seen it all and produced back to back hits so it’s unfair to talk to us in that manner when we didn’t say anything wrong,”
In the meantime, the preparations for the VGMA go on even without Praye. There would be a mega experience concert this weekend, followed by the show proper next week, on May 18th 2019.
