The Youth Would Rise up In 2020 if the Politicians Keep Making Empty Promises without Fulfilling them — Yaw Ampofo Ankrah

Veteran sports broadcaster Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has warned politicians in the country that the youth could revolt in 2020 if things do not get better.

Life in Ghana is as hard as it has ever been, despite the change in government in 2017 on the back of a lot of promises. The biggest issue facing the youth, graduate unemployment, does not seem to have gotten any better and the cost of living continues to skyrocket at an absurd rate.

Ankrah, speaking in a chat with Vim Lady, said he fears that if things continue like that into the next election, and then the politicians come with the same empty promises, the youth could truly revolt.

“The young folks are really frustrated. What I am afraid of is that if in 2020 the rhetoric is not guarded and the stakes are raised too high, we will find ourselves in some trouble and they [youth] blame the government, opposition and the rich.” Ankrah said.

The former BBC journalist also narrated to the Adom presenter how he suffered for campaigning for the NDC sometime back. According to him, people treated him very badly just for expressing his political opinion and he has no interest in being treated that way again.
