If you want to know why Africa is a mess of such epic proportions, you have to look no further than the dinosaurs we call politicians who run this continent into the ground due to their arrogant and corrupt natures.
In Burundi, one of the countries on this continent whose people need relief, their President and his appointees are instead concentrated on jailing teenage schoolgirls for the ‘crime’ of drawing on the President’s face.
The three girls, aged 15, 16 and 17, drew some doodles on a picture of the President in their textbooks, which apparently is a crime in Burundi.
The girls were arrested and detained, sparking a Twitter hashtag calling for them to be released.
In solidarity, other Burundians are drawing on the President’s face with the hashtag #Freeourgirls.
Burundi has been ruled since 2015 by Pierre Nkurunziza, who controversially run for a 3rd term after his legally mandated two terms in office came to an end in 2015.
