University of Education, Winneba has been the subject of bad publicity the whole week following an impasse between the Vice-Chancellor and some lecturers of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University has been accused by the student population and the University Teachers Association of Ghana of arbitrarily dismissing lecturers and workers of the University community.
Series of protests and demonstrations have happened on the university campus the whole of the week but things escalated today, leading to a tussle between the student demonstrators and the Ghana Police Service. Properties have been destroyed, some students have collapsed with many injured.

A student of the University has confirmed on Silver FM’s afternoon political show that it is been reported that many of the students have suffered some form of injuries with two of them feared dead. The Central Regional Minister has since ordered for the indefinite closure of the school.
