Legendary Ghanaian defender Samuel Osei ‘Tuga’ Kuffour has called on Ghanaians expecting an apology from current skipper Asamoah Gyan to forget it since he owes no one an apology.
Asamoah Gyan is always in the news for one reason or another and in recent days has become an object of ridicule following news that his DNA test had shown him to be the father of his kids.
The DNA scandal is just one of many scandals Gyan has been involved in throughout his career.
However, the biggest brouhaha surrounding him occurred after the 2010 World Cup, when Gyan hurriedly took a penalty Ghana had gotten in the last minute of our game against Uruguay and struck it against the bar, leading to Ghana’s elimination.
To this day some people have not forgiven him for that loss. Many Ghanaians believe he should apologize for it but Sammy Tuga obviously disagrees.
According to him, such incidents are a part of the game and Gyan does not need to apologize to anyone.
“I will tell him should not say sorry to anybody. In that 2010 tournament how many penalties did he not score for Ghana? How many goals did he not score for Ghana in that same tournament? Asamoah Gyan is the leading scorer for Ghana as far as Black stars is concerned. For just one mistake he should come and apologize….I don’t think so”, Kuffour thundered.
The legendary defender himself suffered many controversies throughout his very successful playing career, and like Gyan also was very stubborn about being forced to apologize for his supposed infractions.
