NO MERCY — Nantes on the Neck of Cardiff City to Pay Transfer Fee of Dead Footballer Emiliano Sala

The French football club Nantes have asked English Premier League side Cardiff City to pay the first instalment of the £15m they are owed over the transfer of Argentine forward Emiliano Sala.

Sala signed for Cardiff City in January, yet never kicked a ball for them before dying in a tragic plane crash.

However, despite Sala’s death and the fact that he did not even play one match for his new team, his old club Nantes are already on Cardiff’s neck and demanding payment of his transfer fee.

According to the BBC, Nantes has sent an invoice for the first instalment of the fee, which both clubs had agreed would be paid in three instalments. Cardiff City says they would honour the contract, but just feel now is not the right time to be discussing money issues when the search for Sala’s body has yet to be completed.

“We must show respect to the family. There is the process of recovering the plane.” said Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman.

Sala died whilst flying in a fixed wing aircraft from France to Wales after completing his Cardiff signing. He went back to France to see his old teammates for one last time but then died over the English Channel when his plane crashed.

The search for the plane has recovered wreckage with one body on board, but it’s not clear if the body is that of Sala or the pilot of the plane.

On social media, many people are condemning Nantes for being so fixed on money at such a time. However, the transfer was completed and Sala was a Cardiff City player at the time he died, even if he never played for them.
