In arguably the most shocking move of the January transfer window, former Black Stars midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is set to join European giants Barcelona.
Multiple reports in England and Spain confirm that Boateng, 31, is set for a shock loan move to the five times European champions.
Sky Sports understands that the general manager of Boateng’s current team Sassuolo, Giovanni Carnevali, is flying to Barcelona today (Monday) to complete the deal
Barcelona would pay £1.75m for a six-month loan deal with an option to buy Boateng permanently for £7m in June.
Boateng, one of the most nomadic players in world football, only joined Sassuolo last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. He has played for an impressive number of European clubs including A.C Milan, Tottenham Hotspurs, Portsmouth, Hertha Berlin, Las Palmas and many others.
Boateng was in the news only a few days ago after it emerged that he’s set to separate from his wife, Melissa Satta.
