News reports fly with alacrity whenever an issue moves into the trending category and in such instances, all sorts of rumours start flying around and peddled without veracity.
The case of Nana Appiah Mensah is the trending one of the moment and every second new stories pop up about him.
One of the more recent ones alleges that the Ghana Police CID has issued a notice to the International Police Organization (INTERPOL) declaring the businessman a wanted man.
INTERPOL is the international agency of police officers, covering approximately 194 countries across the globe. Being placed on their most wanted list means all police officers in the member countries are on the lookout for you and could arrest you to be extradited back to your country.
The Police CID claims they have had Nana Appiah Mensah placed on the list but a check on the online database maintained by INTERPOL of criminals on the list does not show Nana Appiah Mensah’s name coming up.
There happens to be two Ghanaians on the list — one wanted for manslaughter and other charges whilst the other is wanted for murder, among other charges.
The online database is run by INTERPOL and is the go-to place to see the current most wanted list but at the moment, it’s erroneous for anyone to say Nana Appiah Mensah has been placed on that list.
Check the list yourself on the INTERPOL website.
