Speak of a timely and needed message for a generation of social media, photo sharing obsessed people.
The newest music video from Afrobeats star Fuse ODG is titled ‘New African Girl’ and it shares with us the message of self-love which is wildly needed in this day and age of white celebrity obsessed African culture.
Fuse features the incredible vocal skills of Lynx Entertainment duo Kuami Eugene and Kidi in the music video for the single, whose concept follows up on the most consistent message the UK based star has spread all his career which is for Africans to feel proud about ourselves.
One cannot deny this is a message which is wildly needed in the current climate. Social media has worsened the artificial beauty standards modelling and television advertising had been aggravating for ages, giving the feeling that fair skin equals beauty and leading many down the path of ‘bleaching’, ‘toning’ or simply photoshopping their images to the point they’re unrecognizable.
All this is done at the expense of natural African beauty which is in abundance but which is being boycotted by us for some absurd notions of beauty tied to whiteness or fair skin.

In ‘New African Girl’, Fuse fights to popularize the notions of standing up for your Afro identity and finding the true beauty contained therein. A beautiful cinematographic film, the video is filled with beautiful African ladies showcasing their beauty and deriving true pride from it.
With the backing vocals of the ‘rockstar’ Kuami Eugene and Kidi, ‘New African Girl’ is a much-needed reminder to our messed up generation unsure about their identity that true African beauty already resides within us, and we don’t need any Caucasian looks to match up to beauty standards.
You don’t want to miss this ensemble of genuine African beauties from all across the continent, dancing whilst Fuse, Kidi and Kuami Eugene serenade us with lofty notions of self-love.
The liberation of this continent begins with accepting that we are fine as we are and do not need others defining what is fine for us. That is Fuse’s career in a nutshell, perfectly distilled into this newest video.
