If you think it’s only our lovely footballers who find a way to reduce their ages to what we humorously call the ‘football age’, well you’ve got to think again.
Aside Ghanaian (and African) players, South American stars have been known to reduce their age by a year or two, and now we have this extraordinary case coming out of India.
Footballer Gourav Mukhi earlier this year became the youngest ever player to score in the Indian Soccer League (ISL) when he scored at the ‘tender age of 16’ for his club Jamshedpur FC.
He became a sensation for that historical record, but has now become a sensation for a completely different reason — being found out as an age cheat.

Mukhi has been suspended for 6 months by the All Indian Football Federation after it emerged that he’s actually 28 years of age and not 16 as he claimed.
The funniest part of this amazing story is that the photo of Mukhi accompanying this story makes it quite astounding that anyone believed he was 16 in the first place.
Check him out below, tell us what you think.
