Zimbabwean Woman Arrested Attempting To Smuggle 7kg Of Cocaine Through The Kotoka International Airport

Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) have grabbed a Zimbabwean woman at the Kotoka International Airport for attempting to smuggle as much as 7kg of cocaine into the country.

The lady, identified as Cynthia Lichonja, was carrying the illicit drugs in a false compartment of her suitcase.

She had arrived at KIA in an Ethiopian Airways flight and was caught with seven parcels of brownish powdery substances suspected to be narcotics in her suitcase during routine checks at arrival.

The substance was tested and proved positive for speedball, a class of narcotics, with the parcels weighing 7.5kg in total.

Speedball is a mixture of cocaine, serving as a stimulant, with heroin or morphine, serving as a depressant.

Lichonja, who is 30 years old, told officials of NACOB that a certain lady known as Ms. Patience gave her the suitcase in Zimbabwe and told her to deliver it to a friend in Ghana.

Ms. Patience purchased the plane ticket for her journey, she claimed and said she never knew the suitcase contained drugs.

She is currently being held whilst investigators try to find both the elusive Ms. Patience and the person she was supposed to deliver the drugs to in Ghana.
