Two People Arrested In The Volta Region For Attempting To ‘Juju’ Nana Akufo-Addo And Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

In a hilarious turn of events which can only happen in this our dear country called Ghana, two people have been arrested in the Volta Region for allegedly trying to cast a spell on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The two, identified as Ebenezer Atsu and Sheperd Acolatse, are residents of Ashaiman but travelled back to their home region to consult a fetish priest about ‘jujuing’ the two influential leaders.

Their ‘beef’ with the two was that they were pushing for the creation of a new region out of the Volta Region, the so-called Oti Region, which is part of the new regions proposed by the current government.

The two thus decided to take matters into their own hands and visited a fetish priest in Weta in the Ketu North Municipality.

However, after telling the priest their intention he told them he’ll help them but instead reported them to the police, who initiated a manhunt for the two which led to their arrest.

After being picked up, they claimed they had received instructions from a guy known as John, also from Ashaiman, who asked them to carry out the rituals for him.

They were also found carrying a sheet of paper which contained not only the names of the President and Otumfuo but of Dr. Archibald Yaw Letsa the Volta regional minister; Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah, chairperson for the Electoral Commission; Mr. Justice Brobbey, Chairman for the Commission of Enquiry on creation of the new regions; the Minister for Regional Reorganization, Mr. Dan Botwe; and Dr. Obed Asamoah.

After their arrest, the two have been transferred to the Volta Regional Police Command in Ho and are being held.

As to what offence they can be charged with, we’re very interested because as far as we can tell they are yet to commit any crime under the laws of Ghana other than exercising their religious freedom.
