The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has in recent times been on a warpath to explore all avenues of revenue collection in order to increase Government’s revenue base.
The most obvious measure is the introduction of the TIN numbers to monitor and enforce the tax laws of the country.
In recent times a taskforce of the organization has been ‘raiding’ organizations and other entities who dodge tax or fail to comply with updated tax laws.
Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel were the latest ‘victims’ of such raids as the The Excise Unit and GRA task force descended on the hotel.
Several items were seized from the bars of the hotel for not having excise tax stamps.

The items included Chase Vodka, Martin Blanco, Havana Club, Chivas Rigal, Willam Chase Elegant, Russian Standard Vodka and Hemey Cognac.
The goods were seized for flouting the The Excise Tax Stamp Act, 2013, which mandates excisable goods to be affixed with tax stamps before being put on sale.
