Kwesi Nyantakyi Banned For Life By Fifa

Kwesi Nyantakyi has just decided to reappear in the news and steal Asamoah Gyan’s shine. The former GFA President has been banned for life by Fifa.

Nyantakyi’s ban stems from his starring role in the 2018 ‘movie’, ‘Number 12’, directed by world renowned Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Whilst the government of Ghana amazingly has allowed Nyantakyi to run free, perhaps to ensure he keeps his mouth shut about the corrupt elements he knows about in the government, Fifa at least has followed up and put an end to his involvement in football.

The former GFA President, CAF Vice President and Fifa Executive Committee member initially received a 90 day ban from Fifa, who then tacked on a 45 day ban as they completed their investigations.

They have now decided to ban him for life and also, fine him 500,000 Swiss Francs (roughly $498,000).

The ban takes effect immediately and was communicated via a Fifa statement.

Adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee sanctions Kwesi Nyantakyi

The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has banned Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level.

The adjudicatory chamber found Mr Nyantakyi guilty of having violated art. 19 (Conflicts of interest), art. 21 (Bribery and corruption) and art. 22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition. As a consequence, Mr Nyantakyi is banned for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level. Additionally, a fine in the amount of CHF 500,000 has been imposed on Mr Nyantakyi.

The decision was notified to Mr Nyantakyi today, and the ban comes into force immediately.
