Kumawood Actors Are Ready To Go To Prison For Non Payment Of Taxes, You Can Even Expand It- Actress Mercy Asiedu

Kumawood actress and songstress, Mercy Asiedu says she and her colleagues in the movie industry are ready to go to prison over nonpayment of taxes.

According to the actress, the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) attempt  to take taxes from her and her colleagues in the movie industry is unfair and does not make any sense.

Mercy Asiedu was confronted by some personnel from the Ghana Revenue Authority over payment of taxes, narrating the confrontation on Hitz FM, she said officers from GRA called her colleague actor Lilwin while they were on set, and informed them that they had to pay tax for every movie they shoot.

Reacting to what the GRA asked her to do, said she told the GRA officials that they have already paid for copyrights, therefore, they will not pay the tax.

Mercy added that they should tell government to expand the Nsawam Prison because the actors and movie producers are willing to go to jail over the issue because they will not pay.
