It’s really high time we all accept that our politicians are all scumbags who are only looking for ways to enrich themselves, and stop thinking placing our hopes in any of them is the way forward for our dear, great country.
The sort of visionary leadership we got from Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah is a thing of the past and from the look of things, we’re never getting anywhere close to that. The best we can all do is simply live our lives to the best of our ability in the hostile environments our corrupt and insensitive politicians create for us.
During the NDC’s time in office the NPP screamed bloody murder about the high price of goods and services and said the government was insensitive. They promised Ghanaians reprieve and yet since assuming power almost everything they complained about they have done same. Prices have continued to increase whether it be fuel prices, foodstuffs or transport fares, whilst wages as usual remains stagnant.
The NPP bragged that Ghanaians were being taxed too much and that they would reduce those burdens. They also said money is already in the system and they would utilize those monies for development without adding to the hardships of Ghanaians.
They’ve done exactly the opposite, with prices continuall rising and per what we’re hearing, telecom prices are the latest to be go up.
The telcos have released a statement, announcing that new government tax policies have forced them to increase prices on the consumer.
Looking at the way these telcos already squeeze Ghanaians, both in voice and data charges, not to talk of those exorbitant MoMo charges; it’s amazing to hear things are even going to get more expensive.
It’s only been two years but already Nana Akufo-Addo and his brood look no different from what Mahama served us for four years.

It’s all about enriching yourself, friends and family and Ghana be damned.
We really need to wise up and start voting all those old men out of office.

NOTICE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS TARIFF MODIFICATIONS FOLLOWING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE VAT (ACT 970), NHIL (ACT 971) & GETFL (ACT 972)
Accra, October 17, 2018 – The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications on behalf of its members – AirtelTigo, MTN and Vodafone – wishes to notify its esteemed customers and the general public of tariff modifications following the implementation of the new tax laws.
The government as part of the 2018 mid-year review of the budget amended the Acts referenced above.
The objective was to “give effect to the conversion of NHIL and GETFL into levies that are not subject to the input-output mechanism, and delinking them from VAT by removing the option of input tax deductibility,” thereby giving both levies a unique and different legal identity and distinguished from VAT.
Our members, who are responsible corporate entities, would comply fully with Ghana’s laws and ensure the distinction between VAT and the new levies emanating from their separate origins and basis in law.
As intended the incidence of the two new levies will thus be on consumers and will result in the increase of the cost of telecommunication services.
Customers of telecommunication services will be notified by their service providers prior to any changes being made and the expected changes will take effect on 1st of November 2018.
The telecommunications industry remains committed to full transparency and accountability to both the Government of Ghana and their customers.
Signed
Kenneth Ashigbey
Chief Executive Officer
Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications
