Ghanaian comedians are some of the most criticized showbiz professionals in the country, mostly because they truly suck, especially in comparison to their colleagues from Nigeria.
You have to look no further than the one christened as the ‘king’, DKB, to realize the lack of talent in the field. David Oscar, who was one of the most promising comedians once upon a time, even had to quit and become a musician.
Thus a lot of the criticism hurled at them is justified in my opinion but one of the comedians in the country, Lekzy Decomic, says Ghanaians have to jump off their backs and allow them to do their jobs.
Speaking on the harsh criticisms, Lekzy said nobody was perfect all the time and even God sometimes does not do what might be described as his ‘job’.
“People should just give Ghanaian comedians a break because we are tired of all the negative energy. It is as if such critics are always looking for our downfall and only find time to talk about a comedian’s performance when things don’t go well,” he complained.
“Even God who is all knowing doesn’t always come to our aid when we desperately pray for intervention in a situation and in our human minds, we think He failed so how much more mortals like comedians? We can’t always please everyone because there are bad days.” Lekzy added.
