The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts has become a useless entity under the current NPP government, according to many celebrities who are disappointed with the output of the ministry.
The NPP made many promises whilst campaigning and some of it covered the creative arts sector, but since coming to power the actors and musicians say they can’t see the changes they were promised – just like the rest of us citizens who are still waiting for the ‘ecomini’ to cool down.
Prince David Osei, in a recent interview, went in hard on the Ministry and sector Minister, Catherine Afeku.
According to him they have done nothing substantial since coming into office and the minister in particular is a huge failure.
“Forget about the Ministry of Tourism. The Minister of Tourism has failed the industry, that’s what I keep saying I don’t know what the one in charge is doing. We felt like they coming into office would help, but they’ve not done anything remarkable that I have seen or felt so I think the Ministry is not doing well,” Osei said in an interview.
David Osei had some words of advice for the ministry on how to use the movie industry to promote the country.
“You need to come up with ideas. You need to make sure the right structures are there. You need to make Ghana a gateway for tourism. Most of us travel outside, others have not traveled outside before, but they can visualize how New York looks like because they’ve seen it on TV.
“That’s what Hollywood does. We need to open our sector, the movie industry should be the mouthpiece that will sell Ghana, through our movie making. Ever since they came into power, tell me one remarkable thing they’ve done.” he added.
