Veteran Ghanaian actor, born Bob Smith Junior, popularly known as “Diabolo Man” has said Ghanaian movie producers should concentrate on folklore.
According to the “Mama Mia” actor, he believes going back to our traditional ways of telling stories will help shape the status of the dying movie industry.
Speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix show on Friday, 17th August 2018 with Sammy Forson, he said Ghanaian movie producers should look at the works of the Nigerian movie producers, they focus on their tradition which makes their movies look outstanding.
“Ghanaians have pushed their folklore aside, folklore is our culture, our identity,” he said.
“Movies are a way to send a message to society and folklore is very important but Ghanaians have relinquished it. With the wisdom of the president and Minister, Catherine Afeku, we are fixing the issue and it has started in a way,” he disclosed.
