KNUST Male Halls Conversion Saga: Students of Katanga And Conti Halls March Half-Nak£d On The Streets Of Kumasi (PHOTOS)

The battle to still maintain two main traditional halls of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), as male-only residential halls is not ending anytime soon.
The alumni and students of the Unity and University halls of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have embarked on a half-nak£d demonstration to fight against the university’s conversion of all of its residential halls into mixed-gender facilities.

The university authorities announced that Katanga, Unity, Africa, Independence, University and Queen Elizabeth halls, effective from 2018/19 academic year, will house both male and female students despite strong opposition from a section of the students and alumni.

Some past and present students of the university have vowed heaven and earth to resist the move by university authorities. Some of the male students have gone to the extra mile of threatening rape.
Today, August 17, 2018, a section of the students from Katanga (University Hall) and Conti (Unity Hall) demonstrated half-nak£d on the streets of Kumasi with some carrying coffins bearing the image of the Vice-Chancellor. They are expected to present a petition to the Chancellor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.
