After the case of Lance Corporal Frederick Amanor ‘Skalla’ you would think police in Ghana would wait even a few more months before going back to their crooked ways.
However, a new viral video we’ve spotted seems to suggest otherwise as a police officer in Tepa and two accomplices can be seen assaulting a man, with the entire episode captured on camera.
According to reports, the man, Kwabena Boateng, is a carpenter who was hired by the officer – identified as Henry Lamptey – to carve a piece of furniture for him.
He paid half upfront but due to some delays he thought the carpenter wanted to chop his money, thus bringing two friends along to assault him.
“The officer had contracted the carpenter to produce a piece of furniture for him. The carpenter explained that the type of wood the officer wanted to be used for the furniture was scarce and will delay in executing the job,” a journalist in Tepa, Munkaila Salifu, reported.
“But the police officer thought that the carpenter was playing a fast one on him, especially, since he had made part payment, hence, he laid an ambush for him, together with two other officers and attacked the carpenter on a street in Tepa,” Salifu added.
The video shows the officer, Lamptey, with his two accomplices attempting to force Salifu to go with them which he refuses and they jump on him as a result.
A lady who tried to intervene also got into trouble as she was shoved forcibly onto the ground.
