Ghanaian actress and veteran high-life musician Madama Paulina Oduro has expressed dissatisfaction towards Ghanaian dancehall artistes.
On the Zylofon FM’s popular Showbiz Agenda show, the actress who is also a Judge in Talented Kids reality show expressed that some Ghanaian dancehall artistes know nothing about dance-hall music yet the claim to be doing dancehall.
She, however, added that each time she hears such so-called dance-hall kinds of music from these artistes she feels like cringing.
“I cringe when I hear some of the so-called dance-hall artistes, it is not that I don’t like it, do Ghanaians know what dance-hall means?”
Continuing to express herself she came up with a revelation that she was brought up in Jamaica and once married a Jamaican so she really understands what dancehall means unlike what these artistes are doing here in Ghana.
“As an elderly person I get very angry when I hear some of the lyrics these dance-hall artistes are coming up with…they don’t know the difference, they don’t know what they’re saying. Find out the meaning of the lyrics before you say them,” she advised.
